As any author can tell you, reviews of books are important. Amazon reviews in particular are among the most critical to the success of a book, and so it isn’t surprising that authors are forever encouraging their readers to review books there. However, many readers are at a loss when it comes to actually writing a review on Amazon, so I’ve decided to offer some guidance.
The easiest and one of the most effective ways to review a book on Amazon is simply to answer two questions:
-
Did you, personally, enjoy reading the book?
-
Would you recommend the book to others to read?
That’s it! Most people can knock this is out in a single sentence, but you can take as many words as you need/want. This method also works for reviewing books on Goodreads, Barnes & Noble, and other sites where reviews from readers are welcome.
Why is this easy method so effective? People look at reviews to get their questions about a book answered, and the most pressing question is always, “Will this book be worth my time reading?” Answering the two questions above will provide that for most readers.
Of course you can add in other information if you want to. Just remember to focus on answering the questions of other readers and you can’t go wrong.
If you have any questions about this, please leave them in the comments. And be sure to use your new skills to leave a review of my book, “Chronicles of the Roc Rider”, after you’re done reading it.
