“Rising Storm” has finally released, and as the reactions pour in, many of my readers are no doubt wondering what’s coming next. Not just in terms of the Roc Rider series, but my writing in general. While I can’t predict the future, I’d like to give you a little taste of what’s coming down the pike.
A Plan For Roc Rider
Obviously, there’s going to be a third Roc Rider book, but at this point, I’m not entirely clear on how many books the series will comprise. While I do have an idea where we’re headed, I’ve been planning the series one book at a time. So whether I can wrap the story up satisfactorily in one more book is a tad up in the air.
To combat this (and hopefully make completing the rest of the series more quick and efficient), I’m going to take the time to plan the remaining books in the series before beginning in earnest on the draft for book three.
I don’t expect this portion of the process to take incredibly long, but it will take as long as it takes. Whether the series ends up being three books or five, I think this planning stage will ultimately help me get the remaining volumes out to you more quickly than I could doing them one at a time.
A Freebie For Subscribers
If you’re a newsletter subscriber, you can look forward to another story release later in 2020. I’ll be launching a shorter tale that I’ve been writing off and on over the past year. The word count on this lies right on the cusp between a short story and a novella, so I’m not sure which to label it at the moment.
The story follows Justimaeus, a fallen paladin of the goddess of truth who now chases fire-breathing rats for a living. But when a mission from the church crosses his path with the friend who caused him to fall, who seeks to influence the path of an embryonic god, everything he believes in will be tested. Now, with a new god soon to be born and humanity the key to whether it will be good or evil, Justimaeus must decide where his true loyalties lie.
All current subscribers will receive this story when it’s complete, and then all future subscribers will get it for free. Pretty cool stuff, eh?
And speaking of shorts…
Hunters & Fallen: An Anthology Of My Own
I’ve been toying with the idea for years of doing a collection of shorter fiction in an anthology. The idea was a nebulous maybe until recently when I struck upon a theme that got me excited about it.
Said theme came to me when I realized that all my current short works in progress had something in common. They were about either a hunter of some kind or someone who had fallen from grace in some way.
I like the idea of theming an anthology around those two character types, so I’ve decided to start working on short fiction to do just that.
Now, this project will be an ongoing thing and a side endeavor to my novels, so I can’t say it will be out anytime soon. Still, I’m excited about it and thought you’d all want to know about it.
Audiobooks
I do still plan on releasing audio versions, but I don’t have a time table at this point. Nevertheless, I figured you’d all want to know that they’re still on my radar.
Other Projects
I indeed have some other writing projects in the works as well, but I’m going to hold off discussing them in too great of detail for the time being. I’ve mentioned most if not all of them at one time or another on the blog, but with nothing concrete on where they’re headed right now, I don’t want to talk about them overmuch.
I guess that about wraps up all the news about future projects. I hope you guys are as excited about some of these as I am. Any questions, feel free to leave them in the comments.
And be sure to subscribe to the newsletter so that you can be among the first to know when these projects release.
